February 13, 2024February 21, 2024 What’s it like Staying on the Celebrity Edge Cruise ship? Have you ever wondered what it’s like to stay on board a luxury cruise ship for 2 weeks? Well I’m about to give you an honest review of every detail, so that you can decide if this is the ship for you. When booking a cruise, choosing the Cruise Line and ship is the most important part. It has to suit your family, your needs and stop at ports that you’re interested in, so it can be a challenge! The 2 week adventure we went on started in Singapore, sailed into Bali, and then took us around some of the most bucket list spots of Eastern Australia, disembarking in Sydney. I had never stayed on a Celebrity ship before so had very little idea what to expect, but this post will take you through all the most important things to know. Staterooms and Suites When booking a Celebrity cruise you have the option to stay in a balcony stateroom, internal stateroom or one of their many suite options. The balcony staterooms are a standard cruise room size but with an extra indoor space which replaces the balcony, since the ‘balcony’ is actually just a sliding window that gives you a full ocean outdoor view. This is very common on cruise ships, however not something we’d seen ourselves before. The internal rooms are slightly smaller and don’t have a window or balcony, however they do have a digital window that gives you a live outdoor view of what everyone else is seeing. The suites are larger with their own lounge areas, outdoor balconies, larger bathrooms (with a bath) and also give you access to the private suite lounge and suite sundeck, as well as giving various other perks such as reserved seats in the theatres and an additional luxury restaurant. All rooms are beautifully designed with modern furniture, comfortable beds, bathroom necessities (shampoo, conditioner, body cream etc) and wonderful cleaning services daily. Restaurants and Service The service that we experienced on Celebrity edge was truly second to none. We left every restaurant or bar with such a feeling of joy from having wonderful experiences every time, this included the standard of the food! The food in every restaurant was spectacular, the menus rotated every night so there was always plenty of choice as well as different themes in each restaurant to vary the choices even more. Our favourite restaurants on board were ‘Luminae’ (the suite exclusive restaurant), ‘Eden’ (a fish restaurant at the very back of the ship with exceptional views), Petit Chef (a MUST try, I won’t say too much!) and the Fine Cut Steakhouse (Need I say more). There’s also a more casual buffet restaurant which I must say wasn’t my first choice for evening meals since I do love to dress up, and the food seemed to rotate much less at dinner time. However for a lunch time snack the Oceanview Buffet was a perfect pit stop. Entertainment Now I did say I was going to give an honest review for this ship… The entertainment for me was the only let down unfortunately. When I go on a cruise, one of the things I look forward to the absolute most is the evening shows so my expectations were very high, however the 4 shows that I watched during our voyage didn’t quite meet those expectations. That’s not to say they weren’t great, they had incredible dancers, singers and acrobats but they didn’t offer full musicals, as a Royal Caribbean ship would, instead they were short, variety shows. The theatre however was exceptional which did make the experience more special and there were so many entertainment options in the evening that you couldn’t really complain, I’m just picky! As for parties and night life, due to the clientele on our particular voyage the night life was pretty quiet but there was a fantastic silent disco, salsa party in the club and white party on the deck. I’m sure on a cruise with lots of youngsters the night life would be great as there was plenty on offer! Daytime Activities There were 2 swimming pools on board Celebrity Edge, the main swimming pool on deck 14 and the Suite deck pool on Deck 16. The Suite deck pool was pretty small but usually quiet, where as the main swimming pool was much more suited to swimming as it was slightly deeper and much longer but could get busier. There are plenty of beds around the whole ship so it’s never a race to get a bed in the morning. Other than the swimming pools, I found that there was a very small selection of daytime activity options. There was a table tennis area as well as the odd quiz, theatre presentation or pool side game but nothing really for kids, teens or young adults to do during the day. Lucky for me, I love to sunbathe so I was mildly unfazed but I can imagine if you were a family on board you would really struggle to keep your kids entertained during the day. In comparison, the newer Royal Caribbean ships have a rock climbing wall, surf machine, water theatre, slides, Rollerskating rink, ice skating rink and more! So to go from that to a ship with no activities at all was a slight shock to the system but perfectly suited the main clientele on the cruise which mostly consisted of older couples and groups. Excursions As important as the ship is, the main point of a cruise is the stop offs at ports all across the world, so to have a wide selection of excursions is important (unless you prefer to do your own thing of course!). Celebrity cruises had a massive selection of excursions for every port we visited, all to suit various budgets and activities. There were loads of options for the adventurers such as wildlife visits and snorkelling, or if you prefer to take your time there were also lots of locations stops to give you your own time to explore without the hassle of getting local transport. Overall Overall, the ship itself was very luxurious with gorgeous designs, themes and furniture throughout. Personally for me, the main promenade was on the small side which did mean a lack of available seats in the evenings but if you manage to nab yourself a seat, it is a great spot for top quality cocktails and the hourly chandelier show which involves the bar-men showing off their best cocktail shaker juggling. So… if you’re looking for a relaxing, luxury cruise with the best food (and Spa!) at sea, then Celebrity edge is the perfect option. With lots of new destinations being added all year round, I can guarantee a great trip on board a beautiful ship. All Posts Cruising Luxury
