January 15, 2024February 27, 2024 What to do and see in Sydney Sydney is possibly one of the most famous cities in the world that sits comfortably at the top of most people’s travel bucket list. With some of the world’s most famous landmarks, beautiful weather all year round and the most gorgeous hotels, Sydney is truly the most appealing city for a holiday. In this post I’ll talk you through my No:1 sights to see and my favourite things to do in the beautiful city of Sydney. First up, Sights to see… These famous sights make your holiday feel like a scene from a movie when you see them. This includes the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour bridge, Bondi Beach and the Bondi Icebergs. The Opera house and the Harbour Bridge are right opposite each other, located at the famous Sydney harbour where you also may even spot a cruise at their port. You don’t just have to look at the Sydney Harbour bridge from afar, you can do one better… you can climb it! Climbing the Sydney harbour bridge (specifically at sunset) not only offered the most exceptional views but also one of the best experiences of my life. We learnt so much about the bridge and Sydney as a whole during our 3 hour climb. But if that seems too long you can choose between 3 climbs, all of different lengths and directions across the bridge. They also offer keep sake photos and videos at 3 separate points of the climb which give you the perfect memorabilia. Book your bridge climb below! Bridgeclimb Sydney After seeing Sydney from above rest your feet at the Opera bar, located directly in front of the Sydney Opera house. Or you could even take the opportunity to watch a show inside the opera house. All year there is a wide variety of shows inside the 3 large theatres located inside including the Australian ballet and national musical tours. Another one of my favourite stops on our visit was to the Taronga Zoo located in Mosman, just across the harbour from the centre of Sydney. The best way to get to it is via the water taxi system at Sydney Harbour. It’s how majority of locals commute everyday and is super quick, easy and cheap. Another famous Sydney stop is of course Bondi Beach. I think expectations are very high for Bondi so I do have to warn you, it’s just a beach. But it’s got a little variety of shops around it as well as the Bondi Icebergs, which are outdoor pools practically connected to the sea and rock pools, that also have a bar too. There are Bondi Rescue huts everywhere for any Bondi Rescue fans and most importantly plenty of space for sunbathers across the beach. Bondi is known for being a dangerous beach to swim in due to currents and sharks but there are lifeguard flags that guide you to the safest spots as well as nets to keep out unwanted animals. I recommend booking a surf lesson with ‘Lets go surfing Australia” to get the full Bondi experience, they offer 2 hour beginner classes to get a real first timer feel for the waves. Let’s Go Surfing! From Bondi you can talk a coastal walk to Coogee beach which passes through several other coves and small beaches along the way, partnered with the most beautiful views! It’s just over 6km so takes about 2 hours but there are plenty of opportunities to stop for an acai bowl on the way. Finally, my number one thing to do on a city break (as I say in every city blog post) is a Big Bus Tour! There are 2 route options, one that sticks within the suburbs of Sydney and the other that ventures out to hotspots further afar such as Bondi Beach. They last about 1.5 to 2 hours so be sure to wear plenty of sun screen if your planning to sit on the top deck as I must warn you, it’s not a breezy drive. I personally recommend the Red tour (Suburbs of Sydney) as it gives you loads of history about the city and the architecture as well as seeing many famous sights along the way. All Posts What to Do
