March 11, 2023August 25, 2023 Top 10 F1 Grand Prix weekends 23 Races. 23 spectacular destinations to choose from. Not everyone is a Formula 1 fan but if you’re with someone who is and choose the right destination, everyone can make the most out of great weekend. This post will run through what I think are the Top 10 Grand Prix’s to visit based on Cost, Location and the Race itself. MONZA, ITALY Race: Monza is the oldest F1 circuit and the home race for the Ferrari F1 team. Beyond the sea of red in the stands, this 5.8km circuit is surrounded by stunning views, to top off the electric atmosphere for not only the Ferrari fans but everyone. Location: Monza is on the outskirts of Milan, the Fashion capital of the world. This race would make for a perfect weekend break that can be spent between the 2 cities. Both of which are full of history, culture and great food. The Monza circuit itself is in the heart of a large city park with lots of restaurants and bars close by. Cost: ££ The average budgeted weekend cost for this Grand Prix (excluding transport to and from the country) is around £400, with 3 day general admission tickets starting at about £180 but due to demand these can rise significantly. Italy overall is one of the more affordable European cities. SPA, BELGIUM Race: This 7km circuit is the ultimate test for drivers. It’s the longest circuit on the calendar and involves a lot of hills and tight corners. If you want a race with a bit of action, this is a great one to look into. Location: Spa is surrounded by mountains, giving exceptional views from anywhere in the circuit. This being said, it means that Spa is a little bit of a drive from the nearest city and airport. Brussels is the closest airport and Liege is the nearest city. Both have a lot to offer and make for a full weekend of travelling, F1 and beauty. Cost: ££££ Spa is one of the pricier weekends on the F1 calendar, with the lowest weekend cost probably ranging between £500-£600, with 3-day grandstand tickets being approximately £220. Belgium in general is an expensive country so when booking accommodation and tickets, keep your food and transport costs in mind too. SILVERSTONE, UK Race: Silverstone is possibly one of the most anticipated races of the F1 season, not only for the intense racing but for the spectacle they put on at the circuit; entertainment, food stalls, parties, concerts, the list goes on and on. The circuit is in the countryside so flat and fast! Tickets go fast for this one so prices go up with it. Location: The closest towns to the Silverstone circuit are approximately 10 miles away, this includes Milton Keynes and Banbury, so there’s not much of a city nearby to explore unless you’re willing to stay in London and travel the approximate 2 hour commute to Silverstone from there. Not to worry though, the Silverstone circuit itself is like a town, there’s plenty on offer for food drinks and entertainment to keep you busy all weekend. Cost: £££££ Silverstone is one of the most expensive races as it is so popular! General admission ticket prices rise quickly with demand starting from approximately £400. There isn’t much to do, eat or see surrounding Silverstone but everything you need is within the circuit, however due to it all being internal, it can be very expensive so keep that in mind when budget planning! MONACO Race: Monaco is a 3.33km street race which is a very different experience, much less overtaking and more corners than straights. It’s a long 78 lap race though so lots of time for action. The positive of a street race is that almost all grandstand seats are pretty close to the track and have visible screens so you can see what’s happening everywhere. Location: Monaco is the most glamorous location of the F1 calendar with a marina over flowing with super yachts and beautiful views. There are restaurants throughout the city from casual dining to Michelin star of all cultures so that anyone visiting for the Grand Prix weekend can enjoy the luxury but maybe not the super expensive Monaco lifestyle. Cost: £££££ I think we can all agree that Monaco is probably the most expensive F1 weekend to attend simply because of location. For a budgeted weekend, the average cost would be £650 with no transport included, however the cost is literally endless. Hotels in Monaco are very luxurious but if you’re looking for a more budget appropriate option, Nice is much cheaper and another beautiful place to visit. HUNGARY Race: Hungary is another exciting race, as it’s very twisty as well as having plenty of opportunities for over taking. This race is in the summer of the F1 Calendar so almost always has lovely weather with guaranteed good spectator views! Location: The Hungarian circuit is pretty close to it’s Capital, Budapest, which is an affordable and lively city. For the time of year that this race takes place, the weather is almost guaranteed to be warm and sunny which always tops of the race weekend experience. Cost: £ This is one of the most affordable races on the calendar, as well as being an easy and cheap one to get to. An average weekend ticket only costs around £100 and even better, eating and drinking in Hungary is just as affordable. So if you’re looking for a budget friendly F1 weekend, Hungary is the one for you! RED BULL RING, AUSTRIA Race: This Fast and dangerous 5.9km circuit is famous for being a sea of orange smoke, as it is the official Red Bull race of the F1 Calendar. Location: The circuit sits in amongst the Austrian countryside which gives for stunning natural views. Its close to the City of Spielberg , famous for its local cuisine and aesthetic hiking routes. Cost: ££ This is another pretty affordable country and track, with weekends costing an average of £400 including accommodation. But tickets go fast, especially to Red Bull Fans! MONTREAL, CANADA Race: Montreal is usually an exciting race that is pretty popular with the Ferrari fans. The circuit is surrounded by Street parties, adding to the already energetic atmosphere! Location: The city centre of Montreal is a very short drive from the circuit which means you can really make the most of your weekend and explore Montreal. There is plenty to do and see around Montreal, and a fun fact… Montreal is a highly French speaking city. Cost: £££ This race is pretty reasonable for fans that live close by, with weekend costs (including accommodation) coming to approximately £450. For a big city, Montreal is surprisingly affordable so if transport isn’t an issue for you, this is the perfect weekend. ZANDVOORT, NETHERLANDS Race: This is World Champion Max Verstappen’s home race and only Dutch race on the calendar, so as you can imagine it is in high demand and again a sea of orange! There’s a very lively atmosphere and is known for being a well organised race to attend. Location: This circuit is in amongst the sand dunes so not as surrounded by life as the other races. However, it’s only a 35 minute drive to Amsterdam which is not only full of history but a beautiful city! Cost: ££££ Due to huge demand this a pretty pricey weekend. Not only are General admission tickets around £250 but the Netherlands is quite an expensive country to visit, so if you’d prefer a budget weekend this may not be a top choice. MIAMI, USA Race: This is the newest race on the Formula 1 calendar, and a very popular one with the celebs! It’s a 5.14km track surrounding Hard Rock Stadium with loads to do see, eat and drink around the circuit. Location: Being only 30 minutes from central Miami, this is the perfect location for a sunny and city holiday! Miami Beach/Promenade and Hollywood beach are only a short drive away to add a bit of relaxation to your busy weekend. Cost: £££££ As I’m sure you’ve guessed, this is a pretty costly weekend! An average weekend ticket is about £500 so a weekend will most likely cost around £1000 with the high costs for accommodation. ABU DHABI, UAE Race: Being the final race of the season, it’s undeniably going to be incredible. It’s not only a big, exciting race but also a fun filled weekend, full of entertainment, parties, air displays and fireworks! Location: This is a circuit near the sea with stunning views, as well as loads to do in and around the circuit. To top it off it’s only a short (ish) drive to Dubai so there’s an option to stay there and explore or you can stay locally in Abu Dhabi and take the metro for a day trip to Dubai Cost: £££££ Another pricey weekend but the possibilities really are endless! The weekend tickets Start off at around £250 but can go up to £5000 for luxury suites, it’s completely up to you and your budget. But whatever ticket you get, you won’t be disappointed.
