January 15, 2023August 25, 2023 Dubai – My What to Do List Where do you even start with a ‘What to do’ list in Dubai?! The possibilities in this incredible city are endless and ever-growing. I don’t like to pick favourites but this has to be my favourite place to visit and in all the times I’ve been, I still haven’t completed my Dubai bucket list! If you’re interested in a trip (or two… the list is that long!) to Dubai… Read on. I have to start this ‘What to Do’ list with the tallest building in the world, The Burj Khalifa, of course. One of the biggest tourist attractions in the city and a great way to see Dubai from a birds eye view, while getting an insight of what it took to finish such a piece of architecture! Some people prefer to just look from a distance which for me was the case for my first few visits but eventually we built the courage to take the lift (another world record of fastest lift!) up to the 148th floor and see Dubai from above. Not only can you take in the jungle of skyscrapers but in the distance you can see what Dubai originated from… sand! It really puts into perspective how much work has gone into and continues to go into creating such a beautiful city. At the bottom of the Burj lies my favourite feature of Dubai, The Dancing Fountains. An incredible show of water and music every half an hour between 6pm and 11pm, every single day of the year! Now, I realise water and music may not be selling it very well but imagine the Las Vegas Fountains at the world famous Bellagio hotel – times 100. It is such a spectacle of illuminated water jets swaying in time with music that completely transports you for the whole 30 minutes, I can assure you it will never get old. And after watching that you can take a long stroll through the one and only Dubai Mall. If you’re a shopaholic like me, this will be your dream. Every high end shop you could imagine, open until late, with an aquarium, zoo, ice rink, cinema, trampoline park and endless more opportunities. So in the unlikely event that you’re bored in Dubai (a sentence you will never hear), the mall is your best friend! As I’m writing this in 2022, this is the year the Dubai Expo has finally been opened to the public and boy did it blow us away! I hope for everyone’s sake that it stays open so you can experience a whole new world of cultures and architecture in the middle of the desert. The things this country can achieve is mind blowing and if you’re given the chance to visit the Dubai Expo, please take it with both hands and make the most of your time there. It’s perfect for families, a fun day out for friends and can even be a nice relaxing -ish, solo day out. The list really does go on and on, but I’ll finish this off with two more of the less talked about suggestions. The Horse Racing in Dubai is a completely different day out to in the UK, there’s no gambling so much more relaxed in that sense, instead it’s a day for supporting the sport and for them, looking after those horses more than anything. It was brilliant for the family to experience all together and a great excuse to get all dressed up too! Finally, the ‘Miracle Gardens’ is the Worlds Largest Natural Flower Garden (another record to add to the list), and is a colourful and quite unbelievable day out. It is only open for certain months of the year to allow natural growth of the flowers so I am looking forward to my next visit to get my own view. They create massive structures such as Emirates’ own A380 Jumbo jet out of pure flowers in full bloom, what a sight! I have linked the website below for you to see for yourself. DUBAI MIRACLE GARDENS For my adventure seekers, there is plenty… I have created a more in depth post of the more thrill-seeking opportunities in Dubai. Little sneak peak, it includes Speed boats, helicopters, and Water parks… Check it out!! All Posts What to Do
